Design

For almost 2 decades now I have observed and studied the human condition as it pertains to the built environment. Most specifically where we live, how we live, and why. As well I have tried to contribute as much as I can to the conversation of how it might be done better. I have worked as a designer primarily in the residential market place for a number of different builders, all building their own vision of what a house can or should be.

I have tried to express my views in the context of sustainability and stewardship, largely to no avail, and have come to this conclusion.

“That to truly build sustainably, you must have a customer of unparalleled understanding, vision, and commitment, or you must remove that component from the equation.”

It is this conclusion that has ultimately lead me to start “one house green” and to write a business plan that is more than acceptive of customers, but not reliant on them.

I believe that a well-designed house is a smaller one. That regardless of style, a well-designed house fits into any community. That thought through, a well-designed house can adapt with the changes in a family’s needs.

I offer my services to those desirous of having a professionally designed space as long as the overriding emphasis addresses our core principles.
